Travel conditions
Dogs and cats can travel for free
- Fur animals such as dogs and cats travel with us for free.
- All animals must be kept tethered or stored in the intended bag or cage and travel on the floor. Smaller animals can be kept in the lap but must not be placed on a seat.
- A traveler with a fur animal must go on board through the middle door, where there is one. Exceptions for guide dogs who are usually trained to enter through the front door.
- The fur animal may only stay in the rear or upper part of the vehicle to make it easier for people who are allergic. Everyone can travel by public transport, so it can never be completely allergy-safe.
- Guide dogs and signal dogs travel with the passenger at any location in the vehicle.
- It is allowed to bring a maximum of 2 fur animals / traveler.
- Anyone traveling with animals is responsible for its safety, and risks being rejected or denied boarding if the fur animal is judged to be disturbing to another traveler or staff.
- The guidelines for animals on the bus are the same in our neighboring counties of Västerbotten, Jämtland and Västernorrland, but there may be regional deviations on certain routes.
In Norrbotten, it is not allowed to bring animals on board lines 17, 18 and 98 and on the demand-driven trips.
Luggage may be taken with you
A carry-on bag (40x30x30 cm) or a suitcase, a pair of skis, a snowboard in a case, a pram or a wheelchair/walker may be taken without charge by a traveller. Luggage may be taken into the passenger compartment of the bus only to the size, weight and volume that the bus’s luggage shelves allow. Otherwise, luggage/travel goods must be stored in the luggage compartment of the bus. For safety reasons, the center aisle of the bus must be kept clear of luggage and other goods.
If goods are damaged in the luggage compartment or if they are stolen, the matter must be reported to the own insurance company.
Baggage with flammable or explosive contents may not be taken on board.
Other luggage
Other normal baggage may be taken subject to space and at the regular baggage rate.
Bus goods
For bus freight transport, the tariff and transport regulations issued by Länstrafiken are applied. Within Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties, there is also Sverigefrakt Box – where you easily buy box and shipping for the same price.
Strollers are allowed subject to availability
A baby carriage may be brought along free of charge by the traveler and the adult passenger pays for the ticket.
When you travel with Länstrafiken, there are two different types of buses, and this differs between different lines and tours.
When you travel with buses that have steps when getting on (standard-floor buses) and double-deckers in regional traffic, the stroller must be folded and placed in the luggage compartment. For safety reasons, the pram may not be stored in the passenger compartment of the bus.
If you are traveling with a small baby, you should bring your own baby seat to be able to fasten it to the bus seat.
When you travel on buses without a level difference when boarding (low-entry bus), the pram may be stored in the passenger compartment of the bus, subject to space. This is because low-entry buses are used in public transport that refers to short and quick commuting journeys where the journey needs to take place in an efficient and simple way. The pram must be placed in the designated place. This is the same place where wheelchairs should be placed. Wheelchairs always have priority.
Seat belt places for children on the bus
There are 2 integrated seat belt places per bus on lines 14, 17, 18, 26, 31, 32, 45, 46, 52, 61, 63 and 91.
By folding the bus seat forward, a booster seat unfolds where the child sits safely and securely facing backwards in the direction of travel with support for the neck and properly fastened. The integrated child seat is suitable for children 1-4 years, max 18 kg.
Make sure that the back of the chair is folded forward and in the locked position before placing the child in the chair.
A car seat or belt cushion cannot be promised
Car seats or belt cushions are not available on buses in regular traffic or in the taxis that run call-controlled and local traffic, medical trips or travel service trips under the auspices of Länstrafiken. In the case of taxi trips with children who need a car seat or belt cushion, it is the traveler’s duty to request and announce this when booking the trip. There is no law that says a child car seat or booster cushion must be in the vehicles, so we cannot guarantee that this can be provided.
Bicycles are taken depending on seat and bus type
Bicycles may be taken without charge, subject to space in the cargo area. Unloading and loading of bicycles only takes place at the bus station, not at individual stops. When the journey includes a change of bus or there is no space, the bicycle can be sent for a fee as Bus goods if Bus goods are offered. Bicycles that are brought into the cargo hold must be well packed to avoid damage or damage to other goods.
Bicycles cannot be taken on lines 28, 30, Norrlandskusten line 100 and buses in city traffic.
Kick-bike, electric scooter or folding bike
Vehicles that are foldable and portable and are less than 120 cm when folded can be taken on the bus free of charge, subject to space.
When you travel on buses with no level difference when boarding (low-entry bus) in regional traffic and local traffic, you may store your foldable means of transport on the floor of the passenger compartment. Please note that it must not take up a seat or be placed so that it blocks aisles or exits as this may prevent a quick exit from the bus.
When you travel with buses that have steps when boarding (standard-floor bus), you must fold your means of transport for safety reasons and store it in the luggage compartment under the bus.
On small buses, foldable means of transport may be taken, subject to space.
Walkers and wheelchairs can be taken
The wheelchair may have the following maximum dimensions: 1,200 mm x 700 mm. Weight: 300 kg (chair including passenger). The wheelchair must have marked attachment points. Larger and heavier electric wheelchairs of the Permobil type cannot be taken on the buses.
Wheelchairs are taken free of charge on the following lines:
• Line 20: Umeå – Luleå – Haparanda
• Line 45: Östersund – Gällivare
• Line 100: Luleå – Piteå – Umeå
Permobiles and electric scooters can be brought
If you have an electric wheelchair/permobile and it meets the length/width/weight requirements, you are welcome on board the bus. If your wheelchair does not meet the requirements, you are referred to travel with a travel service) or to take a taxi at your own expense.
3- or 4-wheel electric mopeds/scooters with handlebars are unstable vehicles that cannot be taken on the bus in a traffic-safe manner. If you use such a vehicle, you are directed to travel with the special public transport or to take a taxi at your own expense.
Smoking is not permitted in or outside the bus
The ban also includes e-cigarettes. The e-cigarettes give off a scent that can be bothersome to sensitive people and can easily be confused with a regular cigarette. It is also forbidden to smoke in connection with the bus, at the bus stop and at the entrances to bus stations and waiting rooms.
Eating on board is permitted
It is permitted to bring coffee, sweets, drinks including coffee/tea if they are brought in a thermos, packaging or mug that can be closed with a lid. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be consumed on board. It is not permitted to bring food that could drip onto seats or other furnishings. Be considerate of your fellow travelers and avoid strong-smelling foods on the bus.
Weapons may be brought in accordance with the Weapons Act
Weapons such as, for example, hunting weapons or other objects that can be perceived as weapons must be packaged and, when required in accordance with the provisions of the Weapons Act, be divided.
